The bullfighter Manuel Benítez Pérez, known as "El Cordobés" (The Cordovan), in Seville, Spain. He was born a poor orphan on 4 May 1936 (probable date) in Palma del Río near Córdoba, and went on to become the highest paid torero in history, known for his theatrical style and daring tactics.
