How well I remember when Forrest came withhis men to take Memphis! He was met by a strongforce of the boys in blue, and driven back; but 383 384 OUR ARMY NURSES. they made a raid on our hospital, and killed lots ofour sick in their bunks. Later I had fever and ague, and left just beforethe battle of N^ashville. I did not return, as the warhad closed before I regained my health.
