This was the first steamboat tomake the trip on Long Island Sound, which event took place in1817. The Fulton made a trip from New York to New Havenand returned, and afterwards formed, in connection with the Connec-ticut, the first line between New York and Providence. A modelof the steamer Jno. W. Richmond, a famous vessel, built in 1838 torun on the Providence line, shows a marked advance in type andarrangement from the Fulton. A model of the steamer Maine,one of the twin steamers built by this company in 1892, shows themost advanced type of Sound steamers. A series of picturesshowing many more Long Island Sound vessels, both old andnew, are exhibited, while company and steamer flags are used asdecorations.
