Tliis change is sudden and definite, but the second tempo is not sustained to the end of the song, the first rendition closing in almost the original tempo. (See song No. 5.) Throughout the renditions there are varia- tions in time too shght to be indicati'd, but the rhythmic unit is clearly given, showing that the song had a rhythmic clearness in the mind of the singer.
