Large Storage Jar, c. 900-1100. The Hohokam Arizona were accomplished agriculturalists whose decline after 1350 was caused partially by drought, and then flooding that overcame irrigation canals. Many Hohokam settlements boasted large public structures including platform mounds and oval ballcourts. The latter reveal contact with Mexico, where the ballgame was a long-established tradition.
