The blades which are inserted into the os are slenderand slightly curved, and still not too pointed nor too blunt,as are some others. Rapid dilatation is most frequently called for in caseswhere women have passed a piece of a hard rubber probeor a stick into the uterus and broken it off; or have passedin short pieces of whalebone and lost hold of them. I havebeen called to remove foreign substances of this characterfrom the uterus in several instances where dilatation of the Plate BABCOCKS SUPPORTER.
