Rigging the Wire Hawser. How to Plant a Mooring Buoy, in a series of difficult lessons by Coast Guard Buoy Tender, LAUREL. Almost all of the chain for the last of the three huge anchors has gone over the side; the final anchor itself will follow presently. The Coast Guardsmen are here shown rigging the wire hawser which will lift the anchor and lower it over the side. Once the anchor is in place on the bottom, the hawser is slipped and reeved back through the shackle and returned to the LAUREL's deck.
