Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor who died on 24th January 1920 and is buried with his common-law wife Jeanne Hébuterne then killed herself in grief the following day. Her epitaph reads: "Compagna devota fino all'estremo sacrificio" or "Devoted companion to the extreme sacrifice.
