[For Southern Planter.] In the July number of your paper you question the power of theseed of cheat to germinate. I sowed some orchard grass seed aboutten years ago, which I wished as a standing source for seed. Therewas cheat in it when I cut it, and when I sowed it the crop of grasswas more cheat than orchard grass. I kept the place for seed two orthree years, and each year the cheat gained on the orchard grass, till itbecame worthless for seed, and all the places that were seeded withthis seed was more cheat tban orchard grass: and from this fine startin cheat I think I can make as good a showsouthernplanterd458sout
