View WSW from Castell y Bere of the Dysynni Valley with Craig yr Aderyn (Birds' Rock) centre L. The Afon Dysynni flows SW from Tal-y-llyn Lake (Llyn Mwyngill) to the coast above Towyn (Tywyn) six miles from Birds' Rock. The valley was once a long inlet of the sea, (it gradually silted up) & the Rock was lapped by the waves. It is 232m (760ft) high & its cliffs are still used as a nesting site by cormorants.
