The Assumption Cathedral and Church of the Icon of Our Lady of Tikhvin and bell-tower at the Kremlin of Kolomna, Russia

Both the greatness and beauty of Dormition Cathedral are very eye-catching. It is not just an architectural monument; it is a symbol of the heart of ancient Kolomna. The three-dome Cathedral of the Assumption was founded in 1379 by Grand Prince Dmitry Donskoy. This was done after the Russian's first victory over the Golden Horde near the Vozhe River. A year later, in 1380, construction was finished. From 1565 till the end of the 17th century, all Kolomna bishops were buried in the Cathedral. Being founded by Dmitry Donskoy, the Cathedral existed until 1772. In 1772, Archbishop Joseph of Kolomna and Kashirskoye commanded to demolish the dilapidated cathedral. In the next ten years, a new church with five domes was constructed. It was consecrated by Platon Levshin, Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna, who was a prominent hierarch of the Russian Church.
