Imus, Philippines. May 10, 2024: Kapok trees (Ceiba Pentandra) bloom is late due to extreme heat & drought caused by exceptional El Nino that hit Southeast Asia. Usually, falling fluffs occur in mid-March, creating popular summer snowy scenes in tropical countries. This year, seed pods are just starting to open on trees near waterways and are still closed on trees that haven't seen rain for several months. Kapok fibers are used in organic pillows/duvets. For many weeks, heat indices in many areas have reached danger level for humans, animals and vegetation. Credit: Kevin Izorce/Alamy Live News
