Those plan- ning to take the landscape classes should send in their names at once to the secretary. A. A. Pembroke, of North Beverly, finds Alicp to be a remarkably free- flowering carnation. Champion, Bea- con, Matchless, Benora and Gorgeous all are in fine shape. No crimson is being grown this season. Sweet peas are coming along well and will soon be in flower. Chandler Bros., of Tewksbury, know how to grow Golden Glow mums. Their flowers realize $ per dozen, where many go at $1. They grow Bonnaffon in large numbers. The annual autumn exhibition of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, formerly known as the chrysanthemum show, will be held November 4 to 7. The following list of names, to be voted on November 13 at the annual election of the Massachusetts Horti- cultural Society, has been posted: President, E. M. Saltonstall; vice-presi- dent, Walter Hunnewell; trustees for three years, Geo. E. Barnard, William C. Endicott, A. F. Estabrook, J. K. M. L. Farquhar; nominating commit- tee, A. F. Estabrook, Eichard Hit- tinger, J. G. Jack, Thomas Eoland, J. L. Smith. J. Leach & Son and John McFarland, of North Easton, are each sending in superior shipments of lily of the valley.
