Attack on Kattenburg; The Masturbishment of Kattenburg, on the 30 May 1787 (...). Attack on Kattenburg, Amsterdam, by the patriots. On the right lies the Kattenburg district, behind the De Oosterkerk bridge. The residents of Kattenburg, mostly shipbuilders, were supporters of Stadholder Willem V. When the Patriots came to power in 1787, they sent the militia to Kattenburg. At the Kattenburger Bridge a fight between the two parties arose on 30 May 1787, whereby the orangists picked up the bridge.
