By means. of a roller ratchet applied to sprocket, thesprocket can be disengaged from hub at pleas-ure by simply holding the feet at rest on thepedals; the chain, sprocket and nedals re-maining stationary while the wheel remainsfree to run. When coasting in this manner aslight reverse motion of pedals applies brake,while at the same time the rider is free to re-sume forward pedalling at any time withoutinconvenience.
