The Market. Till' market was completely cleared the latter part of last week, with the exception of some niodiiini stock in roses. Stock of all kinds is scarce. The heavy frost last week practically fin- ished the outdoor flowers, with the ex- ception of some cosmos, dahlias, lark- spur, etc., that were frrowin}^ on the hills. With asters and dahlias gone, the de- mand is made all the heavier on carna- tions. They are wholesaling at $^^ to .$4 ' per hundred and are in fine condition. Chrysanthemums are beginninjj to ar- rive, mainly Golden Glow and Smith's Advance. These are bringing $2 and $:i ])er dozen. Rome pompons are cominu in at 7.') cents j)er bunch. Exceptionally fine Turner, Richmond and Oconto are being shipped in from California. The retail prices on these vary from $5 to $.S per dozen. The rose crop continues to hold on well, Premier and Columbia being the main crop and Ophelia third. Some short-stemmed home-grown violets are arriving at $1 per hundred. A few sweet ])eas are just commencing to come in. Orchids are plentiful at .$200 per hun- dreil. Orchids seldom go to waste here. Various Notes. At the opening of tiie llerzberg .Ladies' Store, a floral display ecjual to many flower shows was thrown open to the public. Baskets of roses and chrys- anthemums predominated. By general -opinion a $100 basket of Milady was ac- claimed first choice and a vase
