Leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) with satellite transmitter at dawn
Researchers in Florida equipped a leatherback sea turtle with a satellite transmitter. This device will help them follow the turtle as she leaves the nesting beach and travels around the Atlantic searching for rich foraging grounds. Leatherbacks swim thousands of miles between nesting seasons and are fueled by a strict diet of jellyfish!
