Radley Village, Oxfordshire, UK - 31 January 2021; No people in view. You get up early and freeze to get shots like this - a luminous winter sunrise, with a line of trees reflected in a waterlogged field in Lower Radley Village, after heavy rain. But it is worth it. The last year or so has proven my belief that you do not always have to go halfway around the world to get the shot. After all, this magnificent sunrise was captured on one of the secret local footpaths I use for my daily jog/walk during the pandemic lockdowns. After over thirty years of photographing great sights on my travels and environmental consultancy projects around the planet, recent months have drastically narrowed my photographic horizons to the small Oxfordshire village in which I live. The enforced discipline has actually encouraged my creative juices; after all, just about anyone can photograph the Great Wall, Atacama Desert or Bryce Canyon. To find beauty in a local sight like this one, however, is - in many ways - harder and ultimately more rewarding.
