Besides size and weight, they have the additional qu dities of gaining flesh rapidly, lay- ing a large number of good-sized eggs, rich in flavor, and they are hardy and able to stand even extreme climates. In general make-up The Ply- mouth Kock is a flue-looking fowl; it is large in comparison with the Euro- pean breeds. The prevailing color may be described as grayish white barred with bluish black, each feather barred to the skin, and giving the effect of a bluish tinge to the plu- mage. Our stock has been made up of the best strains in the country, and has, by the most judicious lireed- iug, been so improved that the eggs now hatch chickens remarkable for their uniformity and regularity of coloring, together with fine form.
