The last UK Royal Mail parcel post horse-drawn coach journey at Clayton Hill, West Sussex between London & Brighton on June 1st 1905. Legends of buried Golden Calves are quite popular in West Sussex. There are supposedly two buried in hillforts at Trundle and Highdown Hill and another on Clayton Hill .This job was often farmed to contractors rather than being carried out by Post Office Employees and individual parcels would be packed in wicker hampers before being loaded on the coach whose safety and security was ensured by the carrying an armed guard, .
