Ileal conduit urinary diversion after cystectomy. 79-year-old woman who has been fitted with an ileal conduit urinary diversion device (left) after removal of the bladder (cystectomy) to treat bladder cancer (sarcomatoid carcinoma). The operation was a robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC). After removal of the bladder, the urine from the kidneys is diverted into a detached section of ileum that is brought out of the body through a stoma in the abdominal wall.
