WATERMELONS Watermelons require a rich, sandy soil for best development and do best in warm latitudes. Cultivate same as Muskmelon, except that the hills should be nearly double the distance apart. 1 ox, to 25 hills; 3 to 4 lbs. per acre. COLE'S EARLY—The Earliest and Sweetest Watermelon. Ripens with US during August. The best Watermelon for the Northern States, where the seasons are short. Fair size, generally measuring about 12 inches long.
