Al-Ain Palace Museum, UAE - Well for potable water, inside the walls of the fort (Al Ain)


Shadouf well. Located in the South East of the City of Al-Ain, The Palace Museum was the former palace of the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and dates back to 1937. Restoration work started in to Al-Ain, an oasis, will find this a magical place. The Palace Museum with its wonderfully picturesque defensive walls towers guarding the main gate offer visitors a chance to spend several hours exploring this complex. Areas inside include the family residence, Courts, Grand Court Tent and Gardens. Construction materials used are the traditional ones - Mud, milk, plaster, stones, straw and palm tree trunks. If planning a trip to Dubai, UAE, Al-Ain is a relatively short drive and well worth a visit. and if possible, a longer stay in this delightful area.
