Australovenator dinosaur with ostriches for scale, illustration. Australovenator fossils have been found in Australia, dating to around 95 million years ago during the Cenomanian age of the Late Cretaceous. This theropod dinosaur was a fast-moving bipedal predator. It reached 2 metres at the hip, and lengths of 6 metres. Non-avian dinosaurs went extinct long before ostriches evolved.
