DART asteroid collision, LICIACube image

LICIACube image of the asteroid Didymos (larger) and its moonlet Dimorphos (smaller). The image was taken a few minutes after the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft deliberately impacted with Dimorphos in a test of whether such an impact would deflect an asteroid heading towards Earth. Image taken by the Light Italian CubeSat for Imaging of Asteroids (LICIACube) on 26th September 2022.
