Heworked in these various places with a viewof perfecting himself in his chosen callingand in July, 1889, he settled in Danville,where he has enjoyed an excellent patron-age, building up for himself a reputationthat classes him with the leading artists of. Heis not only a follower, but is also a leader,for he has improved upon methods alreadyinstituted and has done credita])le work thathas attracted to him the attention of theentire profession in the country. He did allof the photographic work from which theportraits of this A-olume have been madeand the high character of the work hasgiven universal satisfaction. On the 28th of January, 1878, in Dan-ville, Illinois, Mr. Watson was. united inmarriage to Miss ]\Iattie D. Rupert andthey have two daughters and a son, EdnaAlice, Flossy May and Walter J.
