Dealers in evergreens, wreaths, etc., are busy and report an unprece- dented demand. Various Notes. Newman S. Wax, father of Martin and Samuel Wax, of Wax Bros., one of Boston's pioneer florists, and now 87 years of age, underwent an operation at the City hospital November 25. I am pleased to report that he is convalesc- ing nicely. Wax Bros, report an ex- ceptionally strong Thanksgiving de- mand, practically all flowers selling well. The Gardeners' and Florists' Club will hold a field day at Framingham, Mass., December 16, to inspect the es- tablishments of S. J. Goddard and other noted growers. Framingham field days always attract a big attendance, carna- tions being well grown there. J. Seaver, of Framingham Junction, is coming to the front with his carna- tions this season. It would be hard to find better Pink Delight, Alice, Match- less, Beacon and Fenn than he has. Because Thanksgiving fell on the reg- ular day for the contests between the bowling league teams, no match was played last week. The next meeting of the league teams is December 7. F. J. Dolansky still is cutting some good Cattleya labiata and C. Percival- iana. All cattleyas now are realizing fancy prices and the scarcity for Christ- mas promises to be quite acute. November gave us a precipitation far below the normal. The total fall was inches, of which half fell on KANSAS CITY, ... WIL
