April Gilbrech joins others to autograph next to their printed name and chosen specialized certification to acknowledge their expertise. Gilbrech, a Certified Pediatric Nurse, is one of approximately 75 certified nurses - more than 60 percent - out of approximately 114 military and civilian nurses assigned to NHB including Branch Health Clinic (BHC) Bangor, BHC Everett and BHC Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, with nearly 90 certifications in more than 30 specialties. NHB's percentage total is more than triple the national average of 20 percent certified. Gilbrech, a Indianapolis, Ind. native and Beech Grove High School, Beech Grove, Ind. 1998 graduate, was selected on March 10, 2019, for the Navy's Perioperative Nurse Training Program, a challenging, highly sought-after assignment, and nursing specialty, to prepare a registered nurse like Gilbrech to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings providing highly technical and critical patient-centered care to those in need.
