Hackescher Hofe, adjacent to Hackescher Markt, in the centre of Berlin, is a series of eight interconnected courtyards, accessed through an arched entrance at 39 Rosenthaler Strasse. The arched entrance gives rise to a 'Graffiti Alley', which leads towards the Ann Frank Centre, which opened in June 1998. The Centre is one of a cluster of different cultural institutions in a single, historical building (Schwarzenberg House). Graffiti scrawl artwork covers the walls and windows in the stairwell to the Neurotitan Shop, which sells alternative art books, comics and a small selection of vinyl records.
