The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) opens their new 50th Street Commons, 2400 square foot vest pocket park

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) opens their new 50th Street Commons, 2400 square foot vest pocket park in Midtown Manhattan in New York on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. The brand new park is a by-product of the multi-billion dollar East Side Access project (ESA) bringing Long Island Railroad trains into Grand Central Terminal. The public space, which contains plantings, a colorful waterfall and seating, is on top of the access' ventilation facility with the new concourse hundreds of feet below. The ESA is one of the largest transit infrastructure projects in the schedule for completion in 2022. (© Richard B. Levine)
