This traditional land use includes Turopolje Pigs feeding on the nearly everywhere in Europe endangered Water Caltrop in a muddy pond in Lonjsko Polje nature park in Croatia. Die Flussauen der Save werden von den Bauern noch heute so bewirtschaftet, wie es im Mittelalter überall in Mitteleuropa üblich war. Im Rahmen dieser traditionellen Landwirtschaft frisst die uralte Landrasse der Turopolje-Schweine in einem Schlammtümpel eines Altarms der Save die überall sonst in Europa vom Aussterben bedrohte oder bereits ausgestorbene Wassernuss.
