ARABIAN GULF (April 27, 2017) The ship’s wardroom gathers on the bridge wing of the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) to commemorate the upcoming departure of Capt. John Schmidt as the ship’s commanding officer. Philippine Sea is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
