Roses, snapdragons, bal)y gladioli, irises, daffodils and Darwin tulips were ready sellers. The Cleveland flower buyers are be- ginning to realize the true significance of Mothers' day. Our local advertising is done with a view to teaching the public that the proper flower to give or wear on Mothers' day is not the ^^rhite carnation, as worn by Miss Jarvis, hxxt the flower that is, or was, the mother's favorite flower. The result is that flowers other than carnations were asked for and plants, such as (hydrangeas, spiraeas, rambler roses, gloxinias, tuberous-rooted begonias, daf- fodils and tulips, sold easily. Reports from all parts of the city show a large increase in the sales over other years. Mothers' day is getting better each year. It is not a question of whether tlie stock will sell, but rather of what can be had to sell. For Memorial day let us hope that geraniums at $1 per dozen and porch boxes at $1 per foot are things of the past. It is not necessary to organize to keep the jjrice uj). (Miargo a fair price for your stock, so that you can realize a fair profit and not a loss. Your neighbor is liurting no one but himself whett he undersells you. Geraniums and other bedding stock cost from ten to fifty per cent more to grow the last year than in other years. Grow good, select stock and you can get any fair price you ask. F. A. F.
