This is also the year when a new album appears. Theclose of the Victorian era with the nineteenth centurymakes a natural division in stamp-collecting. Albumswhich have been published in the past few years havebecome very bulky, and the new album will thereforeclose with the nineteenth century. An entirely newedition will be begun for the twentieth century. Newissues that have appeared for the various countries willhave spaces provided for them in the twentieth-centuryalbum. Thus the nineteenth-century album will be a. injurious to stamps, both used and unused, than the con-stant changing of them from album to album. A hinge,even though it be of peelable quality, cannot be removedfrom the back of a stamp without danger of tearing itor at least making thin spots upon it. The nineteenth-century album will probably appear with the catalogueduring the month of November. The time for the pub-lication of the twentieth-century album has not yet beensettled, as the book would be so small, on account of thecomparatively few issues that have been made in thiscentury, that the publication will be postponed for sev-eral months. The Macedonian Committee, which has made so muchstir during the past year in northern Greece and Bul-garia, has undertaken to advance its interests by prepar-ing a postage-stamp which has been affixed to a fewletters and parcels passing through the mail. Thisstamp does not have the character of a regular postage-stamp. It is merely a label-design to interest the
