Alaina Shahen, a Masters of Nursing student at Florida International University shares a laugh with a patient at San Ignacio, Belize, May 10, during a medical readiness training exercise called Beyond the Horizon 2017. Shahen and three of her classmates and a faculty member from FIU, volunteered and assisted Army medical personnel administer free medical care as a means of broadening their horizons. BTH 2017 is a Southern Command-sponsored, Army South-led exercise designed to provide humanitarian and engineering services to communities in need, demonstrating support for Belize.
