SKULL, SKELETON

Anatomical model of the head and neck bones of an adult human skeleton with ligaments (right lateral view). The head skeleton is comprised of the bones of the skull, face and jaw (maxilla and mandible) including the teeth. In this profile view, the zygomatic arch is particularly visible; it creates the junction between the temporal bone, forming the temple, and the zygomatic bone, a protuberance underlying the cheekbones and the lateral part of the orbital floor. The seven cervical vertebrae of the neck form the upper region of the spinal column. In the lower righthand corner, the shoulder joint ligaments (in brown) are partially visible.
