An arctic version of Red campion (Silene dioica) growing on the volcanic rocks on the side of Eldfell, which erupted in 1973, Heimaey, Vestmannaeyjar Islands, southern Iceland. The eruption lasted nearly 5 months and nearly destroyed the town. Almost all the inhabitants were evacuated on the night of 23 January.
