Wimborne, Dorset UK. 21st April, 2013. The Rifles, led by the Rifles Band, parade through the streets of Wimborne in Dorset, 3 years after being given the Freedom of the Town. The Rifles were granted the honour in 2010 thanks to then mayor, Councillor John Burden who is the serving mayor for the event. The Freedom of Wimborne was offered to the forces after Rifleman Phil Allen was killed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on November 7, 2009 aged 20.


The Rifles was formed on 1st Feb 2007 from an amalgamation of four famous regiments: The Devon and Dorsets, The Royal Gloucestershire Berkshire and Wiltshires, the Light Infantry and the Royal Green Jackets.
