Sherborne Abbey and the Digby Memorial, Sherborne, Dorset, England


The Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin in Sherborne, Dorset, is known as Sherborne Abbey. It has been a Saxon cathedral, a Benedictine abbey, and is now a parish church. The George Digby Wingfield Digby Memorial was erected in 1884 in memory of the Abbey's greatest 19th century benefactor. Facing camera is St Aldhem, with Bishop Roger on his left and Sir Walter Raleigh to the right.
