Kosher Slaughter of a Male Sheep 21
This picture is one of 23 depicting part of the process of performing a kosher Jewish slaughter of a mature male sheep in a private residence in Eilat, Israel. Considered a “Black Slaughter” (unsanctioned, illegal), Israel’s official regulations regarding the slaughter of animals specifically prohibit the dispatch of animals in places other than those designated by the government. The process requires special tools and protocol in which a Rabbi with specific training is involved to perform the actual killing of the animal according the religious Jewish code-the Halakha. The procedure is governed by various religious requirements of which a painless death of the animal is paramount.
