Closed.—By bringing back the breech-block to its original position,the locking-lever locking fast the sear during the opening of the piece,and thus keeping the hammer from accidentally following up the move-ment of the block. Locked.—By the descent of the hammer under the breech-block whenthe piece is fired. v Fired.—By a center-lock of the usual pattern. Extraction.—By a sliding extractor on the left side of. the barrel,moved by a shoulder on the hub of the breech-block. Ejection.—By accelerating the movement of the breech-block with thehand in opening the piece.
