Thechurch, of course, was built largelyon credit, but, thank God, good be-nefactors were found who contri-buted generously. This church de-dicated to St. Antony is now an or-nament to the village, and is rapid-ly becoming too small for the evergrowing Menominee Indians in Gala Attire tition was finally granted in Septem-ber 1909. On the 16th of thismonth, the site for the new churchwas cleared. The fall being pleas-ant and very favorable for building,the work on the new church pro-gressed rapidly, and after manyweeks of hard labor and much wor-ry, I had the consolation to see thechurch under roof. November 24was a day of great joy; for, on thatday, I celebrated holy Mass for thefirst time in the yet unfinished St. Antonys congregation atNeopit numbers at present 150 fa-milies, of which 120 are good this church has alreadyaccomplished, may be gathered fromthe fact that since the year 1900,twelve adults have been baptized,thirty-two neglected Catholics in-structed and twenty-nine marriagesrevalidated.
