At the recent exhibition here the horticultural end was very successful. J. Bebbington & Son took a very prominent part in the affair and came out ahead in most of the principal classes for cut flowers, fruit and vege- tables. In all this firm took 28 first, six second and five third prizes. The season here has been very hu- mid since July 1, just the opposite from last season. There has been no frost to date, September 29, which is rather unusual, and never has the soil worked so well at this time of year. B. Fairmont, W.
