The Milton Association for the Better Observance of the Christian Sabbathwas formed in 1844 with Joseph Rhoads as president and John F. Wolfingeras secretary. It was designed to secure the enforcement of civil enactmentsregarding Sabbath observance and to promote the gro^vth of public sentimentfavorable to such observance, in both of which objects it met the expectationsof its friends. The Young Mens Christian Association of Milton had its inception in1872. An organization under that name was formed at the Presbyterian.
