The Winter Palace, Tasaparang, Ngari Province, Western Tibet. Tsaparang was a fortress and the capital of the ancient kingdom of Guge in the Garuda Valley, through which the upper Sutlej River flows near the border of Ladakh. The Guge Kingdom controlled the ancient trade route between India and Tibet, and was t the end of the trade route from Lhasa.
