Thearchitecture is very interesting, and there are many inscribed and sculp-tured ancient stones built info the walls. The interior, unfortunatelymodernized, contains a fine old pulpit (1170). At Raiano fhe railway leaves the Aterno, whicli flows to the Popoli, and begins to ascend the luxuriant valley of Sulmona,watered by the Oizio, a tributary of the Aterno.
