Matthew Wood, 1820. Wood (1768-1843), English political and municipal reformer, was Lord Mayor of London 1815-1816 and 1816-1817. He was friend and counsellor to Queen Caroline, estranged wife of George IV, during her trial in 1820. From The Royal Exile: or, Memoirs of Queen Caroline by John Adolphus. (London, 1821).
