Her father was born in 1807 (died inMarch, 1900), son of Asaph and Mary (Bar-rows) Washburn, and was descended fromJohn Washburn, who was in Duxbury as earlyas 1632, and among the first freemen was an original proprietor of Bridgewater,in South Bridgewater as early as 1665. Hewas the first secretary of the Colony in Ply-mouth, England, and was succeeded in thatcapacity by William Burgess in 1628.
