Celebration of Plurinational State Foundation Day. The national holiday celebrates Bolivia’s renaming from the Republic of Bolivia to the Plurinational State of Bolivia under the 2009 constitution, a move which recognized the importance of the country’s indigenous cultural diversity. The celebration is held on 22 January every year, the day Morales was elected president.
