Two melitta leporina bees resting together on a single blue cornflower (centaurea cyanus)

Melitta leporina bees are a type of solitary ground-nesting bees. They do not have hives. This pair were resting on the flower. The bee to the back is a pale greyish colour, whereas the bee at the front was a more vidid golden colour. Their colours can vary for no apparent reason.
